Andrea Williams is originally from Riverside, California. She is currently an undergraduate BFA student here at CSULB! Andrea isn’t afraid to really explore certain depths of art, being why she likes to capture religion a lot. She stated that it is a topic most artists are afraid to explore, but she is a religious person so it doesn’t scare her. This explains why many of her pieces are involved with religion, and also centering around motherhood being that she is, in fact, a mother herself.
Andrea has a constant use of cements, rock clay, mason stains, and ceramics in her work. She uses warm colors, specifically red, to help grab the attention of viewers. She also likes to leave her pieces rough and even with hand prints so it is clear that the pieces were actually hand made. I really enjoyed her pieces, especially because of the controversy behind them. It shows Andrea isn’t afraid of risks, and she’s bold. Which is exactly what you need to help bring future success.
