Sean Joy Cabanig, originally from Los Angeles, now resides here in Long Beach, California. She is a fifth year in the BFA metals program at Cal State. She originally entered school as a creative writer, but wasn’t happy with the program and switched over to art. Once taking an introductory metals class is when she discovered her true passion.

Sean stated how she prefers to work with silver because it adds value to her pieces and it also offers more flexibility versus other metals. All of her work and colors stay in the metallic family, and she works with only metals; mostly copper and silver. Cabanig is also a strong believer in how art should be random and not taken too intensely. She likes to gather inspiration from her everyday life, and her pieces are created from her surroundings and art history.

I really enjoyed this weeks exhibit. I thought the pieces were very beautiful and well put together. I like how Cabanig’s pieces are very rustic looking and give a unique feel. Her pieces are well made and are very beautiful.
